Building a Culture of Health and Wellness

Employers face many challenges in supporting their workforce’s health and wellness. With more than $530 billion lost every year by employers in illness-related lost productivity, employers are seeking innovative ways to promote healthy actions to improve the well-being of their workforce while having more control over their health care spend. Studies show that when employees receive timely and appropriate care, they are shown to be more productive, more cost effective and most importantly, healthier.

But how can employers help their employees seek care? Where do you even begin?

During this one-hour Master Class session, experts from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and Premise Health will dive into how employers can support their employees’ health. We will focus on understanding social determinants of health, the benefits of a healthy workforce as well as innovative care delivery solutions available to further promote health, wellness and accessibility to your workforce.

    Why Behavioral Health Matters

Depression. Anxiety. Addiction. Mental health. Co-morbidities. What does it all mean? What is behavioral health and why does it matter to you, your business and your employees?

Behavioral health includes a spectrum of mental and emotional issues or disorders. And the link between behavioral health and physical health is an important one. Someone who suffers from one or more chronic diseases is likely to be depressed. Depression — or any other behavioral health issue — can negatively affect physical health. What’s more, medical costs increase significantly when a person has a chronic condition, such as diabetes or heart disease, in conjunction with a behavioral health issue. Health plan data indicates that an individual with both a behavioral health disorder, such as depression, and a chronic condition can result in double the cost of treatment and care than someone without a behavioral health disorder.

During this one-hour Master Class webinar, William Beecroft, MD, and Jonathan Henry, MD, will share their expertise on behavioral health, discuss how behavioral and physical health are related and how integrating both modalities of care can be more effective for individuals. HR professionals will gain a better understanding of the toll behavioral health issues can have on their business and what tools they can use to help their employees who may be suffering with behavioral health issues.
